Reduced Magnetic Field Emissions
All Ultrasone headphones have the added benefit of having lower magnetic field emissions than any other headphones. The LE standard offers up to 50% less radiation than other headphones while the ULE or Proline standard gives you up to a 98% reduction in emissions. Ultrasone headphones are certified by the Technical Surveillance Organization and Consumer Advice Centers to have certified low magnetic field emissions.
From Ultrasone:
Electronic equipment emits low/high frequency magnetic/electric radiation, which is also called Electro-Mag. Medical Research all over the world has proven that Electro-Mag is harmful to our health.
In order to protect the health of people within an electrically surrounded environment, clear limits about the maximum radiation emissions have been occasionally defined. For example in the TCO '99 for the allowed magnetic emission of computer screens, in a distance of 30 cm a maximum of 200 nT (nanoteslas) is the upper recommended limit.
Recommendations for the low-frequency emissions in the case of headsets and headphones are still pending or are not really in the focus of importance. This is still surprising because we, as users, are carrying this very emissive equipment directly on our heads.
In a research sample of 60 current headphones (199-2000), Ultrasone found out that the average magnetic field emissions of headphones is more than 1000 nT with a peak maximum of 2100 nT. On average this is more than four times the maximum recommended for computer screens in TCO '99 and in extreme cases, more than ten times the maximum.
The developed and patented PROline technology for Ultrasone brings magnetic field emissions of headsets and headphones down to less than 90 nT.
Florian Koenig developed procedures for carrying out comparable measurement of different headphone and headset models, some of which turned out to have very high radiation values.
Based on these results, he developed a shielding method to reduce the radiation emitted by Ultrasone AG products. After further strict measurements by the TUV South Germany (MOT), which attested lowest magnetic field emissions through the Ultrasone patented method to reduce radiation, the IGEF (International Institution for Electro Mag Research) examined the products of Ultrasone closely. They assessed all PROline products as "of low emission" and granted their certification.
